2/5/08 Fairfax Racquet Club opens a new tennis ball machine/lesson court this February 18, 2008. The court will be available to Junior Program students, Racquet Sports members and Full Club members for random times, seasonal times and lessons. Contact member services for more details.

 

1/15/08 Get ready for the Junior Spring Break tennis camp coming March 17-21, 2008.

11/28/07 There are no classes nor flights Wednesday December 19 – Tuesday January 1.

10/30/07 Tennis Pro and Stringer Steven Chu and his wife are now proud parents of a newborn baby girl this weekend. Steven also has been promoted to the position of Front Desk Manager in addition to his current responsibilities. Steven will start as Front Desk Manager upon his return to the Club.

 

10/25/07 Fairfax Racquet Club Junior Tennis Director Vinh Do, was nominated and voted by the VA USTA district as its Tennis Pro of the Year. Congratulations Vinh Do!

 

10/16/07 Congratulations to Fitness Department Director Katy Nordenbrook who got married this month and had her honeymoon in Hawaii. Katy was taken out to lunch by the Personal Trainers and given gifts in celebration.

 

10/15/07 FRC Tennis Junior Christina Harris, attended Mid Atlantic's High Performance Camp this year and as a result was invited to the USTA National Tennis Center in NY to try out for the national program held in California. The 9 year old was selected and will now join the top girls from every section in the nation.

 

10/3/07 Michelle Castro is ranked #17 in the Mid Atlantic Girls 12’s.

 

9/14/07 All tennis flight programs have filled except Friday 9:30 PM men’s doubles. Ladies Wednesday singles is available. Night Owl and Early Morning packages of play still available.

 

9/7/07 Courts 1, 2, & 3 are re-surfaced. Courts 7, 8, 9, & 10 were re-surfaced in May, 2007.

 

9/5/07 Less than 40 spaces available in the 2007-08 Junior Tennis Program.

 

8/30/07 Trevor Spracklin and Patrick Brown win $550 as winners of the Invitational FRC Money Tournament (6-1, 6-4). Luis Rosado and Gustavo Lazarte win $300 as the finalist.

 

8/29/07 Michelle Castro, FRC’s 12 year old wunderkind is certainly one to watch.  She has had an amazing season.  In fact, from the end of last season to the present, she has gone from an unranked player to #26 in the Girl’s 12 Mid Atlantic’s and when next week’s rankings come out it is anticipated to be even higher.  In her last 4 tournaments, Michelle had 2 semi-finals, 2 final and one championship showing, not to mention making the quarterfinals in an L-2 tournament.  On the road to these impressive showings, she beat the #16 and #20 players in back to back tournaments.

 

Michelle’s coach, Matt Hill has enjoyed watching Michelle bring her game level up over the past year and expects to see her have more championships “racquet-ed” up before too long.

 

To watch this young lady play is witnessing style and grace, even under pressure.  Michelle attributes her achievements to coaching pro Matt Hill and feels he has been an integral part of her rise in the junior tennis world.

8/10/2007 Congratulations to FRC member Mitchell Frank! #1 in the Nation! See the boys 14’s singles USTA National Standings as of August 8, 2:41pm. This list includes 1586 eligible players. Mitchell Frank is having a stellar summer, in addition to having won at Nationals, Mitchell won the boys' 14's singles USTA National Open Tournament held at College Park Tennis Center in Maryland and was runner up in the boys' 16's  National Open in Allenwood, NJ.  In the zonal competition held at Wake Forest University, Mitchell won the silver medal.  He and his doubles partner, Eichiro Okuyama (Potomac, MA) won the doubles championship in the May USTA National Open Tournament held at College Park Tennis Center in MD.
